Kurzbeschreibung
Jeder Plattensammler ist bestimmt schon mal über ein Album, auf dem ein kleiner Saxofon spielender Vogel und der Label-Name "Charlie Parker Records" abgebildet ist, gestolpert. Bei näherer Betrachtung der Rückseite fällt einem direkt das Veröffentlichungsdatum aus den sechziger Jahren und die Überschrift "Stereo-pact!" auf. War die Headline "Bird Lives" wörtlicher gemeint, als man annahm? Was haben Rays Nance und Barretto mit Charlie Parker gemeinsam? Wer ist der "Satan in High Heels"?
Wann haben Barney Kessel und Harold Land "El Tigre" gezähmt? Und wofür steht "Stereo-pact!" überhaupt? In Internet-Foren, unter Fans und Plattensammlern ranken sich wilde Gerüchte um die Veröffentlichungen dieses Labels aus den sechziger Jahren. Obwohl im Internet eine komplette Liste der Veröffentlichungen zu finden ist, wurde der Gesamtkatalogs dieses legendären Labels noch nie gesammelt angeboten.
Mit dieser Sammlung aus neu gemasterten Original-Alben wird der komplette Katalog von "Charlie Parker Records" aus den Jahren 1961 bis 1965 erstmals gesammelt veröffentlicht. Das Label wurde von Charlie Parkers Witwe Doris und dem Musik-Magnaten Aubrey Mayhew gegründet, um die Veröffentlichungen von illegalen "Live-Bootlegs", die nach Charlie Parkers Tod auftauchten, zu kontrollieren. 50 Alben und mindestens 5 Singles wurden auf "Charlie Parker Records" veröffentlicht, um die Musik von Charlie Parker zu huldigen. Unter den Künstlern, die Musik bei "Charlie Parker Records" veröffentlicht haben, finden sich, neben Charlie Parker selbst, Freunde, Fans und Bewunderer dieses einzigartigen Musikers und Komponisten.
